The Core Staff Team is composed of senior planning and urban design professionals who are primarily employees of the Saint Paul Riverfront Corporation or the City of Saint Paul. Each of the individuals brings expertise to the table in a specific area of city building. This group meets regularly to update current projects and discuss possible future projects. Mark Basten
Mark is an Urban Design Consultant to the Design Center and to the City of Saint Paul. He is the principle designer of many of the City’s public realm enhancements including the distinctive freeway bridges, Kellogg Boulevard and Cleveland Circle.

Tim Griffin AIA, AICP
Tim is the Director of the Saint Paul on the Mississippi Design Center and is responsible for identifying key projects and development priorities that are essential to the implementation of the Saint Paul on the Mississippi Development Framework. He is an ambassador for the Framework and its principles, frequently presenting the plan and principles, lecturing and teaching the Saint Paul studio at the University of Minnesota and facilitating urban design charrettes.

Betsy JacobsonBetsy is the Design Center Coordinator at the Saint Paul Riverfront Corporation. She helps to coordinate several key projects and initiatives, including the National Great River Park and Framework updates. She coordinates Design Center outreach and supports the Adjunct Team and National Great River Park partnerships. Betsy also develops and implements Design Center tools.

Jody is the Design & Construction Manager for the City of Saint Paul Division of Parks & Recreation. Jody oversees the Parks & Recreation Design Group and is involved in the creation of the National Great River Park master plan.

Gregory Page
Gregory is the Director of Special Projects for the Saint Paul Riverfront Corporation. He serves as a liaison between the Design Center and key projects in Saint Paul and is responsible for updating the Core Team on these projects. He is the lead staff on many projects such as the Saint Paul Municipal Grain Terminal (Head House and Sack House), West Side Flats and the Holman Field floodwall.

Lucy Thompson
Lucy is a Senior Planner with the City of Saint Paul Department of Planning and Economic Development. In her work with the Design Center she focuses on applying the Framework Principles to current private and public realm developments. Lucy is one of the principal authors of the Saint Paul on the Mississippi Development Framework.

Marcus Young
Marcus is Artist-in-Residence in Saint Paul, a program of Public Art Saint Paul that is housed in Public Works. For Earth Day, April 22, 2007, he will premiere a large-scale public art event on Harriet Island. The work will be centered on kite flying and will be a nature inspired, city-wide day of wishing.
